I have an outdated or unscalable web application?

You're stuck with code that no one understands or dares to change anymore. The web application was once built internally, but has not become scalable, poorly documented or technically too complex. The original developer is gone. The code is no longer to be maintained. Every change costs a lot of time and money. This hinders innovation and growth.

I use all separate tools and have no overview

You work with multiple systems and manual work, but nothing is really linked. Data is spread across systems, processes are not linked and there is a lot of duplication. CRM, planning, quotation and invoicing software: all separate. Or worse, Excel. We build one web application that integrates all these steps seamlessly.

My systems don't work together, I need an API connector

You use different platforms or software packages, but they don’t exchange data. Orders, customer data or stock must be transferred manually. With a smart API connector, we ensure that data is automatically exchanged between your systems. This saves time, costs and reduces the errors and a better customer experience.

Our approach

01

Introduction

Before we start developing a custom web application, it's a good idea to get acquainted first. If there is a click and we agree that a web application is the right choice, we'll start with a Sprint 0.

02

Sprint 0

Together, we'll create a plan for the web application, outlining all your requirements and ensuring a smart sprint planning. In some cases, we'll even provide some designs for the web application.

03

Setup web application

Before we start the actual sprints, we install our basic setup for web applications and set up a staging and live environment.

04

Various sprints

We develop custom web applications in various sprints, ranging from 50 to 150 hours. We always start with a sprint plan, followed by development, including daily stand-ups and, of course, a demo at the end of each sprint.

05

User training

Once the web application is ready for use, we provide training for the various users. This ensures a smooth launch and implementation.

06

Launch

After several months of sprinting, the long-awaited moment has arrived. We're scheduling a launch date, possibly including a data migration, and are ready to answer any questions you may have.

07

Monitoring & updates

From the moment the web application goes live, we'll connect it to our monitoring software. We'll also ensure we keep the software up-to-date from now on.

08

Continuous development

In some cases, web application development is an ongoing process. This means we continue the sprints and deliver new features to the staging environment. After approval, these are launched.

What is a Laravel application?

For the development of web applications we work with Laravel software. This is one of the most widely used and well-known PHP frameworks in the world. Over Laravel we have developed Dragonfly software: a toolbox with many components with which we can quickly create a basic web application.

API connection

Create API connector

With an API (Application Programming Interface) you make it possible for various internal and external software applications, also called applications, to communicate efficiently with each other. The advantage of an API link includes a reduction in your operational costs.

Frequently asked questions about custom made web applications

Why have a web application developed?

Having a web application developed is ideal if you want to automate your business processes and work more efficiently. Whether you want to reduce repetitive tasks or enable systems to communicate with each other, a custom web application will save you time, money and personnel costs.

What are the advantages of a customised web application?

A custom made web application is fully tailored to the unique needs of your organisation. Compared to standard solutions or native apps, a custom web app is faster, more secure, more scalable and better aligned with your processes.

Who is a web app or web application suitable for?

Having a web app developed is interesting for organisations that need customer portals, online platforms, smart tools or, for example, a Lead Management System (LMS). Both large and smaller companies benefit from a well-designed web application.

How does Websteen develop a customised web application?

Would you like to have a web application developed that truly suits your business? Websteen works with the SCRUM methodology: a flexible Agile approach that allows us to build and improve in short sprints based on your feedback.

Is it safe to have a web application developed?

Absolutely. Websteen has been developing secure, custom made web applications for over 20 years. Security, reliability and scalability are our top priorities – whether you need a simple web app or a complex platform.

What is SCRUM and why does Websteen use it?

When developing web applications, we use the SCRUM working method. But what exactly is SCRUM? And what are its advantages? And is Agile the same as SCRUM? Let's clear up a misunderstanding right away: the terms Agile and SCRUM are often seen as synonyms. But they are not. Agile is a mindset that, in short, means you have to be agile/flexible in order to survive as a company and continue to develop. The most commonly used Agile framework is SCRUM, an effective and flexible way for a team to deliver projects in a more productive manner. It also allows any problems to be quickly identified and resolved.

How much does it cost to develop a web application?

Unlike with websites, we do not usually work on a fixed price basis when developing web applications. For web applications, like most of our colleagues, we work according to the tried and tested SCRUM methodology with sprints of around 50 to 100 hours. For larger projects, we use sprints of up to 150 hours.

Which programming language do you use for developing web applications?

For several years now, we have been using Laravel, one of the world's most widely used and well-known open source PHP frameworks, to develop websites and web applications. Laravel is an extremely useful development environment with standard building blocks that enable us to deliver top quality quickly and efficiently. An important advantage of working with Laravel is that it is constantly being developed. Our developers also regularly make improvements and add smart functionalities to our CMS. Laravel is used by many developers. Almost every web developer works with Laravel during their training. This makes it relatively easier to find good developers.

What about the backups of my data?

More than fine. Your data is in the best possible hands with us. Just as with building websites and web applications, we do not compromise when it comes to data security. Only the best is good enough. We understand better than anyone how important your data is and that we must take care of it, as the law requires, “with due care”. And that is exactly what we do.
